Managerial roles available at Dobbies new Antrim store

Retail, hospitality and horticultural managers are being invited to apply for three senior vacancies at the new Dobbies Garden Centre in Antrim, which is due to open later this year.

The company, which is the UK’s largest garden centre retailer, has already been recruiting for a general manager for the store and is now looking for an operations manager, horticulture manager and restaurant manager.

The flagship store, which will be one of Dobbies’ biggest to-date, is located at The Junction Retail and Leisure Park. As part of a £10m investment into the shopping destination, the new Dobbies is expected to welcome more than 800k customers each year. The 110,000 sq ft store will create in the region of 150 new and part-time roles, making it one of the biggest employers at The Junction.

Antrim will be Dobbies’ second store in Northern Ireland, following the success of its Lisburn store, and is due to open in Autumn 2023. It will stock plants, houseplants and gardening products; seasonal items; pet range; cookshop, home décor, gifts and toys. There will also be a foodhall, soft play and 400-seater restaurant.

Dobbies is looking for a talented and energetic management team to lead the new store. The horticulture manager will bring expert knowledge of plant care and maintenance, overseeing the horticulture department operation, maximising sales and growth, and creating a customer focussed environment.

The Operations Manager will take the lead in creating a great place to work, bringing operations expertise, commercial awareness and experience in retail operations management.

Applicants for the Restaurant Manager position must have hospitality expertise, with the successful candidate being responsible for the day-to-day operation of the restaurant and kitchen.

Graeme Jenkins, CEO at Dobbies said: “We’re looking for a team to support our general manager who will thrive on the challenge of making this major new store a success. A commitment to excellent customer service and a passion for our sector will be essential in any candidate.”
