Still quite new to the UK market is Merry People, offering a range of waterproof ‘Chelsea’ type boots for gardeners, dog walkers and anyone who likes splashing around in puddles.
Designed by Australian Dani Pearce, they came about after Dani got fed up with getting wet feet during her daily commute in Melbourne. After seeing a definite gap in the market, she designed her own boots which could be worn everyday and look good whether wearing them the city or the country.
100% waterproof and vegan, they are made from natural rubber with a neoprene inner. Surprisingly lightweight they combine functionality with practicality. Around 40 stores in the UK are now stocking Merry People boots and the company is looking to expand into Northern Ireland.
Ankle height Bobbi and Tully boots are joined by full and mid-height boots and the range also includes a Billie clogs. Rust is the best-selling colour and is now sold out in all regions, while Oxford Blue and Tan is the UK’s favourite. New colours for 2024 include khaki and denim. Retail prices start from £59.95.
