Farplants to unveil trio of award-contending plants for National Plant Show

Farplants is showcasing three new plant varieties at the National Plant Show, all of which will be vying for top honours.

Roll out the Plum Carpet! This carefully selected Spiraea, the perfect pairing to Walberton's® Magic Carpet, boasts a neat, mounding habit and exceptional disease resistance. Its stunning display starts with deep plum-coloured new growth, followed by a burst of large, magenta flower heads in mid to late May and continuing all summer. Planted with its sibling, Walberton's® Magic Carpet, they create a breathtaking colour contrast that lasts from spring to late autumn. Walberton's® Plum Carpet is naturally compact, making it a star in patio containers and smaller gardens. Thriving in full sun or part-shade, it matures to a manageable 45cm x 75cm. An unfussy and low-maintenance shrub, it flourishes in most garden conditions.

Hibiscus Walberton's® Lunar® Delight, is a captivating creation by the late David Tristram. This exceptional hardy shrub boasts immense flowers (17cm) in a mesmerising mid-pink shade. The culmination of over 25 years of breeding by David Tristram, Lunar® Delight represents his quest, beginning in 1985, to improve the quality of Hibiscus available - specifically focusing on flower size and colour. The result is a stunning achievement that surpasses other hardy Hibiscus varieties, reaching a mature size of 3m x 1.8m and boasting an upright habit ideal for both borders and containers. Thriving in UK gardens, Lunar® Delight offers a prolific display of blooms from July to September and, once established, tolerates hot, dry summers with ease, ensuring year-after-year garden performance. Farplants is proud to offer Lunar® Delight exclusively to retailers (1.5L). This captivating addition joins the Walberton's® Lunar family, including Eclipse, Flare, Rhapsody, and Rose Moon.

Bred by Thompson & Morgan, Rose Scentifall® Lemon is an innovative new container rose and is a fragrant showstopper! Its tidy, mounding habit make it perfect for hanging baskets and containers. Throughout summer, Scentifall® Lemon cascades a vibrant display of citrusscented, yellow, fully double blooms, offering a repeat-flowering spectacle. Disease-resistant and requiring minimal pruning, it's ideal for inexperienced gardeners. This hardy shrub blooms profusely from May to September, reaching a manageable 60cm x 60cm at maturity. It thrives in full sun or part-shade. We introduced it this 2024 season and it sold out immediately!

All three plants will be available in 2025 and are available exclusively to retailers through the Farplants webshop or representatives. https://shop.farplants.co.uk/ 01243 553311

Visit the compelling Farplants stand no. 281/294 at the National Plant Show to see these, and many other new or recent introductions.
