Wyevale Nurseries helps charity with tree planting

Wyevale Nurseries in Herefordshire is helping a charity in the county with its fundraising efforts by donating trees for a planting initiative.

The leading commercial landscape and wholesale British plant supplier is assisting St Michael’s Hospice in Hereford with an eco-friendly, remembrance scheme.

Adrian Hoare, Cash and Carry Sales Manager, explains: “We’re delighted to be helping the charity by donating some young, bare root trees, at around 0.8 – 1.5m in height, for this initiative. It’s a wonderful way to kick off the year in an environmentally sound fashion, while also fundraising for the charity.”

Wyevale Nurseries has donated four tree varieties for people to choose from, which will provide year-round interest for a long period of time. They include rowan/mountain ash, silver birch, European beech, also known as copper or purple beech, and hornbeam.

Simon Kershaw, Events and Community Fundraising Executive at St Michael’s Hospice says: “We’re really excited about our new, and first ever, tree planting initiative in partnership with Wyevale Nurseries.

“At a time when we all need to be considering our carbon footprint, what better way to do this than getting out into the garden with the family and planting your own tree.

“Planting a tree is also a fitting way to remember a loved one and provide a living legacy to that person while supporting the Hospice in the process.”

St Michael’s Hospice’s tree packs cost £20 each and include an individual’s chosen tree, a cane support and a tree guard, as well as a ‘How to’ plant guide.

Simon adds: “Everyone and anyone can get involved! All you need is an appropriate space in your garden and you can plant a beautiful tree that will last a lifetime.

“Those that sign up will be able to collect their tree from St Michael’s Hospice in Bartestree, Hereford between March 7-11, from 9am until 5pm.”
