Don't lose sight of our USP urges Hillier chief

Hillier Garden Centres MD Andy McIndoe warned listeners at last night's HTA annual dinner of the dangers of the garden industry overlooking its horticultural heritage.

He said that while non-plant sales were important, plants and gardening were still  the reason people visited garden centres.

He also said young people needed to be made more aware of the diverse possibilities of a career in horticulture. Ther industry needed to shake off its traditional image and reflect the passion and reflect the excitement that growing plants brough to our lives.
