Sales explosion of local wine at Green Pastures GC

Green Pastures Garden Centre in Norfolk experienced a 'sales explosion' of a wine from a local vineyard after it was declared 'The World's Best White Wine'.
James Debbage, from Green Pastures, explained: "In 30 years of retailing I have just experienced my greatest 'sales explosion' of a product! On Friday the local and national media broke the story that a local vineyard had won an award for one of their wines that we stock.
"Bacchus 2015 from Winbirri Vineyard in Surlingham near Norwich was declared 'The World's Best White Wine' (in the single varietal category) competing against 17,000 plus other entries!
"Being one of Winbirri's most local stockists (they are 3.5 miles away) ITV included us in their news story and came to film our restaurant and farm shop.
"Sales immediately went beserk and instead of selling our usual 1-2 cases of Bacchus a week, we sold nearly 30 cases in the last three days.
"Just about everyone else in the area sold out immediately but as the vineyard is so close and we have a really good relationship with Lee the owner, we were able keep resupplying throughout the weekend.
"Such has been the demand, I have had to restock four days running and on Saturday alone our Bacchus sales exceeded £1000!
"Some customers were even buying whole cases of it and we even had to start rationing it at one point to two bottles per customer so we didn't disapoint too many people. I thought you might find this little story interesting."
