Perrywood Garden Centres purchases Buckhatch Nursery & Garden Centre

Perrywood Garden Centres has today announced the purchase of Buckhatch Nursery & Garden Centre, located near Chelmsford in Essex. Perrywood now has three garden centres in Essex and Suffolk, with a combined turnover of more than £18m.

Simon Bourne, Perrywood Retail Director, says, “Buckhatch meets all our requirements, including location and buildings.  It is already a good quality garden centre. We can’t wait to work with the team to take it forward and add some Perrywood magic.”

Buckhatch Nursery & Garden Centre was bought from Lynda and Barrie Mortlock, siblings who own Ingatestone Saddlery, one of the largest equestrian and country stores in Europe. Lynda and Barrie bought Buckhatch in 2014.

Lynda Mortlock, co-owner of Ingatestone Saddlery, said: “We are delighted that Perrywood is taking on Buckhatch. We’ve put in a lot of hard work over the last ten years, but we know there is more Perrywood can achieve moving forward. We’ve loved working with the wonderful team at Buckhatch. They, and all our customers, are in good hands. We wish them well.”

It will continue to trade as Buckhatch Nursery & Garden Centre until it relaunches as Perrywood Buckhatch ahead of the 2025 Spring season.
