Bells Horticultural, a distinguished family-run enterprise with a rich heritage in horticulture, proudly announces the acquisition of the celebrated Peter Beales Roses business. This strategic move solidifies Bells Horticultural's commitment to preserving and enhancing the tradition of exquisite rose cultivation.
Peter Beales Roses, a name synonymous with timeless elegance and exceptional craftsmanship, has been a beacon in the world of roses since 1968. The acquisition, which completed today (Friday, 2nd February), allows Bells Horticultural to carry forward the legacy of Peter Beales Roses, ensuring the continued availability of one of the finest and most diverse selection of roses in the market. Customers can expect the same unwavering commitment to quality and excellence that both brands are renowned for.
A pillar of the horticultural sector, Bells Horticultural benefits from extensive experience as a commercial nursery grower of indoor, outdoor and perennial plants supplied to many of the UK’s largest multiples and produced in a 30-acre modern glass house production site heated by a 3MW biomass boiler, whilst also running its own garden centre and e-commerce sites. It is this combined experience, passion and knowledge that has led the team to expand its portfolio to include one of the most beloved and iconic rose brands in the industry. The deal, which has been several months in the making, marks an exciting new era for Peter Beales Roses, an established brand and 28-time gold medal winner at RHS Chelsea.
The plan going forward is for the two businesses to operate independently of one another, however, the Bells team recognises that some benefits will be realised through the acquisition. It has also been confirmed that the wholesale supply of branded Peter Beales Roses to garden centres will continue through the existing supply partner, Whartons Roses.
Robert Bell, Managing Director at Bells Horticultural said: “We are thrilled to confirm that we have now finalised the purchase of Peter Beales Roses. This acquisition marks a significant milestone for us but, more importantly, it marks an exciting next chapter for Peter Beales Roses; a brand that has been much loved by rose aficionados across the world for over 50 years. We are committed to preserving the legacy of the brand and its physical entities but also have great aspirations for future growth, including exciting plans to expand the breeding programme, and raise the public profile of the brand.
“From a commercial standpoint, the Peter Beales offering fits perfectly within the space we currently operate in, and we are confident that this will be pay dividends in both the short and long term. From garden centres and e-commerce to growing expertise, the synergies between our two brands are considerable and, we believe, are vital to the longevity of this expanded brand portfolio. We are on the precipice of something extremely exciting and it’s an honour to be carrying on the Peter Beales brand. Our thanks, of course, goes to Kenneth March, Director at Peter Beales Roses Ltd for all of his help and support during the transaction, and to the wider sector for their encouragement as we move forwards into this next phase.”
Bells assures customers of a smooth transition, with business as usual and no disruption to orders as it takes ownership of the Peter Beales business.
