Better start than 2013 but slightly down on 2014
|
Colder weather in January this year has seen volume sales run slightly below last year’s levels, but ahead of January 2013 when there were prolonged periods of snow.
That means sales of winter products are still to happen, particularly of snow shovels and sledges. But there has been a welcome upturn in wild bird care sales in the Epos data supplied by garden centres to GTN Bestsellers. As centres turn around from Christmas to Spring gardening all we need now is a season similar to last year that encourages people out into their gardens and into centres. With plenty of new and innovative products ready for them, gardening season sales should be high when it all gets going. Make sure you use Garden Re-Leaf Day to help kick start your season. GTN Bestsellers Top 50 sales volumes compared to the same week last year... - Garden Products – down 29%
- Veg-2-Gro Products – down 28%
- Growing Media – down 6%
- All items index – down 5%
