Castle Gardens in Sherborne, Brimsmore Gardens in Yeovil and Poundbury Gardens near Dorchester will offer many new varieties of potted Christmas tree this year, as The Gardens Group presents its largest ever collection of living trees.

With an ever-growing demand for eco-friendly Christmas options, The Gardens Group’s selection of potted Christmas trees will range from 2ft to 6ft this year, with varieties including Fraser Fir, Nordmann Fir, Norway Spruce, Omorika Spruce, Picea Omorika and Blue Spruce.  

Bringing the traditional scent associated with cut trees into the home, while dropping less needles, potted trees can then be planted outside after use, ready to be reused year after year. Spruces in particular thrive in a pot due to their shallow root system and maintain their evergreen colouring to provide a year-round wildlife haven.  

The Gardens Group is offering customers who buy their Christmas trees a collection service throughout January. With an average of 1,500 Christmas trees to collect and 7,500 bags of peat free compost also set to be delivered, The Gardens Group has developed a clever system to maximise efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint.

Each van that leaves Castle Gardens, Brimsmore Gardens and Poundbury Gardens will be full with bags of compost and will return full of Christmas trees. These trees will then be chipped and used for soil improvement schemes on the Sherborne Castle Estate and throughout the garden centres.
