Plant sales below last year for first time in 27 weeks
Plant sales dropped last week to below last year levels for the first time since garden centres re-opened in May. Did the fog deter people from venturing outside or was it just that people were catching up with other Christmas shopping?
Poinsettia sales grew by 12% to move up to No 2 in the GTN chart.
Big houseplants are selling well. Areca were the highest re-entry last week at No 29.
Roses as gift purchases may have been the driver to a 70% increase, moving up 14 places to No 16.
