Peter Beales Roses supplies signature blooms to Jo Thompson’s 'The Glasshouse Garden' at Chelsea

Peter Beales Roses contributed to Jo Thompson’s acclaimed 'The Glasshouse Garden' at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025, supplying a selection of heritage and wildlife-friendly roses that embody the garden’s themes of resilience, transformation, and sanctuary.

Designed for The Glasshouse, a social enterprise supporting women nearing the end of their prison sentences through horticultural training and employment, the garden features a powerful planting palette of deep magentas, rich burgundies, and soft apricot tones. Among the standout varieties is the ever-popular Rosa ‘Wild Rover’—a semi-double, dark mauve floribunda with a creamy yellow eye, known for its long flowering season and pollinator appeal. This variety has proven so popular that it is currently sold out.

Other notable Peter Beales roses featured include Rosa ‘Tuscany Superb’ and Rosa ‘Charles de Mills’, both selected for their rich colour and historical significance. These varieties were chosen to align with Thompson’s vision of “strong beauty,” reflecting the strength and potential for renewal among the women supported by The Glasshouse programme.

“We are proud to support Jo Thompson’s meaningful design with our roses,” said Ian Limmer, Nursery Manager at Peter Beales Roses. “It’s deeply rewarding to see our heritage varieties contribute to a garden that not only showcases horticultural excellence but also carries a powerful social message.”

Following the show, “The Glasshouse Garden” will be relocated to HMP Downview in Surrey, where it will continue to serve as a place of hope and rehabilitation.

Peter Beales Roses, established in 1968, is renowned for its extensive collection of over 1,200 rose varieties, including many rare and historic cultivars. With 30 RHS Chelsea Gold Medals, the nursery continues to lead in rose cultivation and garden design.
