Westland has significantly upped its TV spend, as early indications show Westland SafeLawn is set to storm ahead of the competition this spring.

The news comes following an unprecedented sell-in to retailers, who have pledged support for child and pet-safe product, now pride of place at the front of stores.

The advert, featuring CGI created ‘Lawn Man’, will air on screens in April and will run alongside a large-scale digital and social campaign designed to generate maximum interest among parents and pet-lovers.

The campaign will drive consumers’ in-store over April and May, including the key Bank Holiday weekends.

‘Lawn Man’ is a lawn which has come to life! He puts up with a lot. Kids and pets tearing around, ball games and harsh weather conditions.

It will be on a TV screen near you from Wednesday next week:

  • Emmerdale  – on ITV1 across all active regions at 19:15 on 12th April
  • The Book Thief (Film) – on Channel 4 at 19:40 on 15th April
  • Five Gold Rings (Quiz with Phillip Scofield) – ITV1 19:45 on 16th April
  • The Blacklist: Redemption  – on Sky1 at 21:11 on 12th April
  • Xpose – TV3 in ROI  20:14 14th April
  • Doctor in the House – Be3 in ROI 18:15 16th April

In the advert he is worn and tired. He longs to be loved. To be brought to life and to be part of the family again. Enter Westland SafeLawn. After just one application, he comes to life, revived and ready to play! LawnMan will show parents and pet owners they can get a thick, green lawn that’s 100% natural and safe for children and pets.

Keith Nicholson, Marketing Director for Westland said: “Early indications show Westland SafeLawn is already out-selling existing lawncare products and the feedback we’re getting from garden retailers is that it’s worth committing to.

“It’s a product which has launched an entirely new category, however its very conception is based on solid insight proving there’s an appetite for it within the marketplace. Therefore, we’ve decided to be bold with this product and up the TV spend considerably to allow it to make a real impact as we come into peak season.”
