Groves Garden Centre in Bridport has unveiled its new Glulam Hybrid Canopy, designed and installed by Fordingbridge. This innovative structure is set to transform the garden centre's entrance, offering a fresh, modern, and inviting look while enhancing the overall customer experience.
“We're thrilled with how the project has turned out,” said, Charlie Groves, Managing Director at Groves Nurseries. “The new entrance is exactly what we hoped for—a space that welcomes visitors and showcases our plants and products beautifully in every season.”
Completed in just eight weeks, the project included the demolition of two existing canopies and the installation of the new structure. With groundwork provided by Aarron Keene, electrics and security managed by Chris Stubbs Electrical, and irrigation installed by Simon Moore, the project was a collaborative effort. The doors were expertly fitted by HTL, and Malcolm Scott Consultants ensured all planning requirements were met.
A Glulam Hybrid Canopy was chosen for its architectural harmony with Ivy House, the onsite café at Groves built in 2018. The design features wooden curves that provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Steel uprights offer the flexibility to enclose the area in the future if required.
The canopy not only improves the aesthetic appeal but also creates a light, bright space that encourages customers to explore the centre freely. This new space will allow for the year-round display of products in an inspirational and dynamic way.
Groves celebrated the official opening of the new space with a celebratory event on September 21, featuring live music and local stallholders. With an overwhelmingly positive response from customers, supplier and the Groves team, the canopy is already enhancing the customer journey, setting a new standard for garden centre entrances.
