APL and HTA members impress crowds and judges

The RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival took place this week, and members of the Association of Professional Landscapers and Horticultural Trades Association once again wowed the crowds and judges with their impressive gardens and displays.

The APL had their own stand at the show entitled ‘The Devil’s in the Detail’ which is a fully interactive experience for the public, where the visitor got the chance to look at two near-identical gardens, but one will have 6 common issues or faults that can be found in some landscape projects. Their task was to spot them, and then they’ll find out how they can be avoided.

The APL stand is designed by Artform, with the build supported by David Strows, Bushy Business, Hardwood Landscapes, Garden House Design, Cherry Carmen, Form Plants, Humblebee Gardeners, CED, Landscape Plus, Composite Prime, Steintec, Oase, Weatherit Ltd, Millboard, Bury Hill Top Soil and Growing Revolution.

Elsewhere at the show visitors can take a look at the award-winning gardens built by APL members:

  • Frogheath Landscapes – Wildlife Trust Renters Relief won Best in Category (Get Started garden) and a Gold award.
  • The Landform Mental Wealth garden, built and sponsored by Landform Consultants won the Best Construction Award and a Gold award.
  • Acacia Gardens The Inghams Working with Nature won a Silver award.

Among the feature gardens is the RHS Iconic Horticultural Hero Garden – built by Landform Consultants, Landscape Associates and ACO APL Associate built the RHS Resilient Garden and The Garden Landscapers built The RHS Wildlife Garden.

HTA members in the Floral Marquee include Burncoose Nurseries, Peter Beales Roses and Fryers Roses (part of the Blue Diamond group) who all won Silver-Gilt medals.
