Coolings re-opens restored Pump Garden at Wych Cross

Coolings Garden Centres has officially opened its Pump Garden at the Wych Cross site with a guest appearance from former TV & radio broadcaster, Sue Lawley, who cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the garden.

Coolings customers were invited to attend the grand opening event, which celebrated the garden’s restoration. A large number were there to enjoy a tour of the garden, with celebratory drinks and canapes following the welcome speech delivered by Ian Hazon, Coolings’ Production & Operations Director.

The half-acre Pump Garden celebrates the heritage and history of the Wych Cross site which spans back to 1939, when, the now fully restored water pump, that sits proudly in the garden on display, was originally installed.

The garden, which took three years to renovate, is planted with roses that Coolings grows themselves, along with mixed planting that mirrors original designs from the past. There is a beautiful natural pond too.

A tree was planted during the event, in memory of Paul Cooling, with chairman Gary Carvosso reading a poem in tribute.

The garden is now open to the public at Coolings Wych Cross, Colemans Hatch Road, Forest Row, East Sussex RH18 5JW.
