Notcutts introduces its newly refurbished Wheatcroft Garden Centre in Nottingham

Notcutts will celebrate the launch of its newly refurbished Wheatcroft garden centre in Nottingham on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th October. This marks the completion of the most major phase of its £1.5m refurbishment programme, which sees the opening of a street-food inspired restaurant and redeveloped Home, Gift and Seasonal departments, which will include Notcutts’ Christmas products, toys and next year’s outdoor living spring and summer products.

The new restaurant, aptly named ‘The Street Kitchen’, is inspired by street-food stalls and was designed by Dalziel and Pow. A pair of reconditioned Citroën H vans take centre stage in this fresh dining environment. Each van has been individually branded and themed around a different type of cuisine and there is also a van specifically catering for children called the Piaggio Ape van.

Accommodating 268 seats, further food stalls complete the vibrant market ambience, and throughout there is a strong emphasis on traditional British specialties and local produce. The concept is an evolution of Notcutts’ restaurant concept debuted at Notcutts’ Tunbridge Wells centre. Wheatcroft is taking a step further as dishes are cooked and served from scratch in the independent stalls and vans.

The Wheatcroft redevelopment has already seen improved car parking and flooring work earlier in the year. During this particular phase, the centre remained open without closing any departments to customers.

To commemorate the opening of the refurbished centre, a fun-packed series of events is set for customers over the celebration weekend on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th October, including live music, food, balloons galore, face painting, magic and other activities.

Steve Cole, centre manager at Wheatcroft Garden Centre, comments: “We’re absolutely delighted with the new centre and we hope our customers are too. It’s been an anticipating wait and seeing the final centre in all its glory is very exciting indeed and makes it all worthwhile. Our staff have also worked extremely hard throughout the redevelopment process so we’d like to say a huge thank you to the team for all their ongoing support.”
