Chard Garden Centre in Somerset comes up for sale

Chard Garden Centre in Somerset has been put up for sale with a guide price of £995,000 plus stock. The sale is being handled by Alexander Mackie Associates.

The garden centre comes with a café, nursery and bungalow.

Carol and Neil Cline have owned the business for 16 years but are now hoping to retire.

The couple said: “ We purchased Chard Garden Centre in 2007 and re-located from Essex with our two children, moving into the bungalow on site and making everything very straightforward. With no commute to work to worry about we quickly settled to life in Somerset.

“Somerset is in a lovely part of the South West with Dorset and Devon right on the doorstep but also close enough to the M5 to reach the rest of the country.

“After 17 years and with our children now pursuing their own careers we feel its time to let someone else take Chard Garden Centre into the future, allowing us to retire and take up some new hobbies.

“We consider ourselves to be a small business at the heart of the local community, growing and supplying beautiful plants. We have many customers who call in every week and have supported us throughout our time here, and with houses being built in and around Chard we are also seeing lots of new faces too. Our coffee shop is always busy come rain or shine and makes us a destination for not only the locals but also visitors to the area.

“We have a good team in place across the shop/nursery and coffee shop and we take on the lead roles in buying and accounts, but its all hands to the wheel when the sun is shining and the garden centre is busy.

“We have made the bungalow into a very comfortable family home and will be sad to leave – the benefits of living on site in this great location are best appreciated with a visit to see all that this business has to offer.”
