Are New Gardeners the key to gardening sales increases?
Is it new gardeners driving the upturn in garden product sales or traditional gardeners getting out as soon as the weather improves?
The detail of the GTN Bestsellers garden products chart doesn’t necessarily point in one direction or the other, it just says that a lot more of everything gardening was bought. Last week’s sales were 136% up on last year and closer to levels normally seen at the end of March.
However, deep within the GTN Bestselers Epos data it does appear more gardening tools are being bought this year which is possible some kind of indiction of new gardener activity.
Whoever they are, they are certainly getting on with a lot of growing activity and garden cleaning up for the summer ahead.
Highlights of the week were:
Woodlodge Small Pot Feet are the highest placed chart re-entry at No 6.
Algon Organic Algae Remover Patio Cleaner moves up six places to No 3 while Brintons Patio Magic 2.5 litres is the highest chart climber, up 31 places to No 14.
Westland’s PlantPak Propagator Set is the highest new entry at No 27.
