Scotts announce winning hospice garden designs

Scotts have announced the winners of their St Elizabeth Hospice’s garden design competitio, part of their community outreach programme...

Primary and secondary schoolchildren and students at college or university were invited to enter the competition to design a section of the Suffolk charity's beautiful garden. The competition attracted nearly 60 entries.

The judges picked six winners (rather than one winning design as initially planned) and decided to combine the best elements from each to meet the requirements and expectations initially outlined. They wanted the different features in the garden design to be interactive, accessible and colourful for hospice patients and visitors.

The Hospice will now consider the layout of this new area and how the designs can be implemented.

The Scotts community outreach programme is designed to  encourage people to discover the joys of gardening for themselves. It also support charities that use gardening and horticulture as a source of therapy

Our £5,000 sponsorship is part of GRO1000, a community outreach initiative launched by The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company USA in 2011. GRO1000 will result in the creation of 1,000 community gardens and green spaces by 2018 – the company’s 150th anniversary. Y
