John Lewis and Waitrose report strong garden and outdoor leisure sales
Trading figures reported on the John Lewis Partnership website showed strong week-on-week sales increases of garden and outdoor leisure products during the week ending 3 June. Gardening product sales at Waitrose were 17% up on the same week last year following good bank holiday weekend weather. Overall sales in stores were up 1.2%. At John Lewis, sales of home products were 1.8% lower than the same week in 2016 but outdoor living sales were 16.0% higher, thanks to outdoor furniture (up 10.4%) and barbecues (up 43.0%). Overall John Lewis sales for the week were £83.8m, up 2%.
