Gravity-defying hover boots launched by Flymo

Flymo have this week given green-fingered Brits the chance to elevate their gardening game like never before.

The iconic heritage brand, famous for its beautifully bold orange hue and hover technology, has once again taken gardening to new heights with the launch of its pioneering, gravity-defying hover boots.

Stylish yet practical, the FlyBoot represents the latest evolution in its mission to make mowing easier and more enjoyable.

Howard Scott, Flymo’s UK Country Manager, says: “When an inventor combined a hovercraft and a mower in the 1960s, it revolutionised lawncare forever, using a cushion of air to reduce friction and effort, and Flymo was born.

“With our world-first FlyBoot concept, we aimed to bring that same effortless glide directly to the gardener, giving them a fresh and exciting new perspective on their lawn, quite literally.

“By adapting our airflow and lift technologies into a wearable format, we’ve created a pioneering concept that allows users to move freely and smoothly across grass, maintaining control while experiencing that signature Flymo hover effect.

“We’re delighted to launch the FlyBoot and excited by the exploration of how our heritage and engineering could continue to evolve in the years to come.”

The very first Flymo model, a combination of flying and mower, was actually blue but changed colour based on consumer feedback – and the famous orange brand was born in 1965, making Flymo 60 years old.

In 1965, gardeners were initially sceptical about the flying mower model but were left stunned by demonstrations – with many rushing to replace their old-fashioned petrol wheeled mowers with the light and agile, and utterly iconic Flymo.

Today, the Flymo is instantly recognisable by all generations and proudly remains the UK’s best-selling hover mower.
