Viewers of Thursday’s screening of BBC1’s Young Apprentice series will have seen a London garden centre manager giving the apprentices a hard time when they asked for a discount on a 4ft olive tree.
Garden Centre Guy, as the apprentices have now tagged him, refused to succumb to charm or persuasion. “Why should I give you a discount? Let's give the whooooole garden centre a discount,” he fumed, clearly enjoying the limelight in front of the TV cameras.
The encounter spawned a flood of Tweets, like “Will anybody dare ask for a discount in a garden centre after tonight’s episode”.
