Double win for mouldable glue at DIY show

Having won ‘best new hardware product’ at last year’s Totally DIY show, the team behind the world’s first mouldable glue, Sugru, took two ‘best DIY product’ awards at this year’s show at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena.

The first was awarded by the British Hardware Federation, who said the mouldable glue was ‘a great household solution’. The second was awarded by a panel of judges at the annual DIY Week Awards ceremony, who tagged Sugru a “truly innovative and exciting product.”

Inventor and CEO Janeni Dhulchaointigh (pictured right at the show, with colleagues) was delighted with the double win. “This has been a fantastic start to what will be our busiest and best year to date. When we launched the brand online back in 2010, and the first 1000 packs sold out in six hours, we knew we had something special.

“Last year we made great strides in British retail and the challenge for the year ahead will be opening 5000 more doors in the USA. These two awards are undoubtedly dedicated to the team of 35 people working out of a small factory in Hackney who are making this all possible.”

Used by people in over 160 countries, Sugru is made to stick to as many materials as possible forming a strong bond to aluminium, steel, ceramics, glass, wood and other materials, including some plastics and rubbers.

Handy for any number of small home improvement projects, Sugru’s durable cured properties mean it will stay strong and securely bonded anywhere from the freezer to a hot shower, from the garden to the great outdoors.

Sugru was listed at No.22 in TIME Magazine’s Top 50 inventions in the world in 2010 (iPad was No.34).
