Bradford garden centre's ‘Kindness Pot' wins award

The team at a Bradford garden centre is celebrating after its ‘Kindness Pot' initiative won a national marketing award.

Yorkshire Garden Centres' MD, Mark Farnsworth and Commercial Director, Sharon McNair were presented with the Worrall Cup for Tong Garden Centre's entry into the competition during the Garden Centre Association (GCA) annual conference in Cirencester on 30th January.

"The Worrall Cup is awarded annually to the garden centre with the best marketing and community initiative and we're very proud to have won it for the Kindness Pot programme that benefits local causes that are nominated by our team members," said Yorkshire Garden Centres' Head of Marketing, Jo Dales.

" Our Kindness Pot was introduced in 2022 and donates time, money or products to meaningful causes that resonate deeply with all of our team. Since launch, over 50 local charities, groups, causes and community initiatives have benefited from the Pot."

GCA CEO Peter Burks said: "Our member garden centres are a creative bunch, and we run our Worrall Cup competition annually to decide who has the most flair and creativity when it comes to their marketing campaigns. This year we extended the entry parameters to include community initiatives too."

Tong Garden Centre occupies a 19-acre site in Tong village. It is one of Yorkshire's biggest independent garden centres with 11,600m2 of retail space and parking for up to 700 cars. It is part of the Yorkshire Garden Centres (YGC) group that also owns Tingley Garden Centre and the former Stephen H Smith's Garden Centres in Otley and Harden, Bingley.
