25% more gardening sets new April record
Exclusive GTN Bestsellers analysis

April 2021 garden centre trading was an all-time record for volume sales, even topping the previous high for the month set back in 2011.

The GTN Bestsellers All Products Index for April 2021 is 25% ahead of April 2019 and 23% ahead of the average for April trading between 2011 and 2019. It's now fair to say there's about a quarter more gardening going on in the UK as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

More cold, windy weather caused overall sales to dip slightly last week but they were still 18% ahead of sales in the same week of 2019.
