Will this week be a bumper weekend for growing media sales?
The weather did put a stop to a lot of actual planting activity. GTN’s Growing Media Top 50 Bestsellers sales volumes dropped by 21% week on week and were 16% down on the same week last year.
Judging by visits to centres this week, with the better weather and plenty of late season offers available the end of September could be a bumper one for growing media sales.
Kelkay RHS Horticultural Potting Grit was the highest climber of the week as gardeners sought shelter in potting sheds and greenhouses. Up 30 places to No 42.
Evergreen Garden Care Levington John Innes No2 25L was the highest placed re-entry at No 28.
Westland Gro-Sure Lawn Seeding Soil 30L saw a 70% increase, to move up 14 places to No 7.
