Sales of young tomato plants outstripped sales of all other plants in the first week of April, according to garden centre Epos data analysed for GTN Bestsellers.
Sweet peas were the second most popular garden centre plant purchase with more than double the sales of the same week last year.
Highlights were:
Nemesia was the highest chart re-entry of the week, back in at No 17.
Young cougette plants also increased sales dramatically, up by 150% on last week.
Young bean plants climbed highest up the chart, soaring from No 49 last week to No 23 this week.
