Needlefresh & David Domoney share a series of videos educating the UK about the benefits of having a real Christmas tree
Broadcaster & Chartered Horticulturist David Domoney, presenter of numerous television shows for ITV, including their flagship prime time show Love Your Garden, joins forces with Needlefresh to inspire and educate the nation on the benefits and enjoyment of having a real, UK grown Christmas tree. Together, they’ve created a series of videos that showcase the benefits of real Christmas trees, how to choose the right one and tips on how to care for them best.
The history of displaying Christmas trees indoors was introduced to Britain by Queen Charlotte, consort of George III back in the late eighteenth century. However, it was a yew tree rather than a fir tree that was used. Then, in the 1840s, Prince Albert brought home a fir tree from Germany for Queen Victoria. Images were published of them and the family, gathered around the tree in the Illustrated London News which promoted the festivity of having a Christmas tree indoors.
David Domoney said, “For me, part of the magic of Christmas is having a real Christmas tree in your home. Waking up to the fragrance of pine or fir trees in the morning brings back happy memories of winter as a child, ones I hope to pass onto my children too.”
David added, “Together with Needlefresh, we wanted to make information readily available to distributors to share with consumers about how to choose the perfect Christmas tree, how to understand labels, and then how to pot out the Christmas tree once the festive period is over. We have a mutual passion for real Christmas trees and want to share the love with the rest of the industry.”
Christopher Hood, founder and Chairman of Needlefresh said, “It’s great that David shares our love of Real Christmas trees in the home. We spend a lot of time explaining to people how the trees are grown, but there isn’t a lot out there helping people to get the very best out of their tree during the festive period. The short films David has hosted really connect with the customer who wants to get the very best out of their special tree for Christmas”
The videos are available to be shared on garden centre’s websites that stock Needlefresh Christmas trees. The range includes a whole host of trees including Traditional trees, Pot Grown trees, and Needlefast® trees that don’t drop their needles so easily.
