The Greenfingers Charity has announced an exciting opportunity for skilled gardeners to become a Garden Ambassadors.

Over the last 25 years, the Greenfingers Charity has designed and created nearly 70 magical gardens in children’s hospices across the UK. These spaces provide a backdrop to those children, families and staff that spend time in hospices. From a place to make memories, connect with nature or remember those we’ve lost, every inch of a Greenfingers garden holds deep connection. 

To ensure these gardens continue to thrive as places of comfort and joy, the Greenfingers Charity is launching the all-new Garden Ambassador programme. This new role invites experienced gardeners to support the maintenance and development of Greenfingers gardens in children’s hospices within their local areas, helping them remain welcoming and accessible for hospice communities.

Garden Ambassadors will play a crucial role by working with Greenfingers and hospice teams to ensure the gardens are well-maintained, providing guidance and support (if needed) to hospice volunteers, and overseeing Greenfingers corporate garden volunteering days. Monthly status reports will help identify any issues and ensure the gardens remain usable and vibrant for everyone who relies on them.

This exciting position is ideal for self-employed gardeners who want to use their skills to make a meaningful impact. Applicants should have hands-on garden maintenance experience, strong plant knowledge, their own transport with a full driving licence, public liability insurance, and a DBS certificate. The role requires a commitment of one day per month per hospice garden, with a rate of pay set at £200 per day, including travel expenses.
