Old Railway Line raises £1,250 for Greenfingers

The Old Railway Line Garden Centre, located in Three Cocks between Brecon and Hay-on-Wye, raised an impressive £1,250 for Greenfingers during their Garden Re-Leaf Fundraising Day and Quiz and Curry Night.

Retail & Event Manager, Mathew Lewis said: “We are delighted to have raised £1250 this year for Greenfingers as part of the national Garden Re-Leaf fundraising day. Each year garden centres across the UK unite to raise funds for this amazing charity which builds beautiful gardens in children’s hospices nationally.

“We would like to thank the 120 people who attended our Quiz & Curry Night and everyone who purchased a raffle ticket or charity tea and cake in our Tea Room or Railway Restaurant over the weekend. We also dusted off the ‘Wheelbarrow of Fortune’ and ‘Plant Pot Pong’ after a few years, which was great fun for all who got involved!

Woodlodge, Hozelock and other suppliers who contributed to over £500 worth of raffle prizes. Also congratulations to the quiz winners, Company B, who won by just half a point with a score of 130.5 / 138!

“We love hosting charity fundraisers, and we are already looking forward to the Bingo Night in August in aid of our Charity of the Year, Wales Air Ambulance. Amazingly this event is already halfway to being sold out, so please visit our website to book ASAP if you’d like to come along.”
