Broomstick flying, storytelling and pumpkins sell out at Planters
Planters Tamworth had a successful half term week with their innovative Pumpkin Paddock which included story time, broomstick flying and Pumpkin carving.
Owner Gerald Ingram told GTN Xtra "It has gone very well. By end of business on Sunday we will have sold 1900 pumpkins compared with 100 in normal years. We charged £5 a child who gets a pumpkin and £2 for adults, it averages £7 per pumpkin."
"The busiest day so far has been Wednesday when we sold 250 pumpkins. We had to suspend online booking and advertising on Thursday in case we could not get more pumpkins. We spent £2000 on banners and large scale characters but they will last years. We are already planning next years event. We will increase the price but give away the broomstick and carving kits as we have found they don't last more than a day anyway with the use they've had."
"We even had Craig Tracey, the local MP arrive, who has said he will be bringing his dog to Santa Paws."
