Wow! Scotsdales open their new 480 seater Greenhouse Café

Scotsdales in Cambridge opened their new 480 seater Greenhouse Café this week.  “Wow” and “This really is going out for a treat” were comments from customers seeing the new restaurant when GTN Xtra visited on Saturday.

With three distinct seating areas; the Library, the Greenhouse and a large family and children’s area, plus a dog friendly seating area, the new restaurant has a palatial ambience that customers are really enjoying.

As well as opening a new restaurant, with much larger kitchen facilities “we can now bake our own bread” the Scotsdales team have also been the first centre to go live with app ordering with their Epos supplier Davidson Richards.

With the Davidson Richardson team on site to solve the inevitable teething problems, already app ordering is averaging at 30% rising to 50% in busy periods.  Most importantly the average transaction value of app orders is already higher than the till placed orders.

Scotsdales Managing Director, Caroline Owen, explained that the new café was originally planned to happen in 2021/2022 but got postponed due to Covid “I’m so pleased with the way it has worked out and all of the tea have been fantastic in rising to the new challenge.”

See GTN Xtra’s photo tour of the new Greenhouse Café below, plus a few photos of the centre now that phase 2 of the redevelopment is open.  Phase three, the move of Houseplants into the old Sunflower Café area and the expansion of the Food Hall will open in September 2025.
