A child heart surgery unit in Leeds is suspended after suggestions the death rate there is twice the national average.

The medical director of the NHS has defended the suspension of child heart surgery at Leeds General Infirmary while a safety review is carried out. Sir Bruce Keogh says the trust had no choice. It comes just 24 hours after a High Court ruling kept the unit open.

There are tributes to the actor Richard Griffiths who has died. He played Uncle Monty in the cult classic 'Withnail and I' and Harry Potter's uncle in the films of JK Rowling's novels.
