Taylors Bulbs invest in seed potatoes
|
Taylors Bulbs have announced a £200k investment in a new packing line and a further £160k investment in a 1,400 tonne cold store facility both primarily for the supply of seed potatoes to the UK and Irish garden retail market.
The family owned bulb business based in Lincolnshire has been supplying seed potatoes to UK and Irish garden retailers since 2004 and this new packing line will increase capacity and speed of turnaround. Adam Taylor, Director of Taylors Bulbs said: “The new line will initially be used for the packing of our UK grown daffodils but it has been purchased primarily for expansion of the seed potato business. The new store was anticipated when we built the shed it is housed in so we were able to make use of pre-drilled steels to erect it pretty quickly. The store will also be used for controlling conditions for bulb storage during the summer months as well as for harvest from our farming activities if required.” The majority of the packing line has been manufactured in the UK with key parts coming from Denmark and Holland. Taylors Bulbs will be launching their seed potato prices for Spring 2016 at the HTA Plant Show. For any further information, please contact Adam Taylor, Director Taylors Bulbs on 01406 422266.
