Milestone Garden & Leisure at Newtown St Boswells in Roxburghshire has applied for planning permission to build nine new retail units and a gym.

The plan, which also allows for parking capacity for 88 cars, is part of £2.5 million expansion plan which they say will create around 40 jobs.

Milestone have also submitted plans to Scottish Borders Council for 40 houses, including seven affordable homes, they hope to build on an adjacent site.

Both applications are scheduled to be dealt over the next few months.
