Notcutts St Albans celebrates official opening of new-look garden centre and restaurant

Notcutts St Albans Garden Centre in Smallford has hosted a grand opening event to celebrate its new restaurant and improved look following an extensive refurbishment project.

An official ribbon cutting ceremony took place on Friday, February 28, with Caroline Notcutt, Vice-Chairman of Notcutts Ltd, and the Deputy Mayor of St Albans, Councillor Sandra Wood, joined by local businesses, customers and the Notcutts St Albans team.

The refurbishment project, which has been underway since August 2019, includes a complete transformation to the restaurant, which now offers a modern and spacious dining experience for up to 150 people. There is also a new outdoor south-facing terrace for alfresco dining and a new children’s play area. The restaurant serves freshly prepared breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas as well as a popular selection or cakes, scones and sweet treats.

The refurbishment continues throughout the garden centre with upgrades to flooring, lighting, customer toilets and a new pet centre with ‘Guinea Pig World’ where customers can meet the garden centre’s resident guinea pigs. Notcutts St Albans has also partnered with Crane Garden Buildings who have over 25 different show models now on display including sheds, summerhouses, garden studios and greenhouses.

Chris Holt, General Manager at Notcutts St Albans, said: “Thank you to all who joined us for our special opening ceremony in celebration of our recent refurbishment project. It is fantastic to unveil our brand-new look and our spacious restaurant for customers and the local community to enjoy.”

Councillor Sandra Wood, Deputy Mayor of St Albans City and District, said after the opening ceremony: “I am very impressed with Notcutts Garden Centre's new look following this major refurbishment and I'm sure the new restaurant and pet centre will be a success, attracting even more customers. “It was an honour to be involved in the opening and very encouraging to see that one of our local businesses, employing many local people, is going from strength to strength.”
