Daffs out, grass cut, footfall up

Daffodils are in bloom and grass is being cut – no wonder sales in garden centres took a big jump last week.

With Garden Re-Leaf Day this weekend and Mother’s Day next, the timing of daffs flowering and first cuts of grass is just about perfect to add that extra push to garden centre footfall.

While plants and general gardening products are selling well (week 10 was a record for growing media sales volumes) the mix of daffs in flower and charity donations is resulting in record sales for the Gardman Daffodil Bird Feeder which aims to raise £200k for Marie Curie.

Your GTN Bestsellers analyst is now off to take part in The Great Garden Re-Leaf Day 20 mile walk… Bestsellers may be late next week as a result but at least we will have helped Greenfingers towards their own £200k target for Children’s Hospice gardens. Thank you for your support. www.justgiving.com/fundraising/OllyandFloyd
