The AMES Companies appoints new Operations Director

As the AMES Companies’ expansion plans continue apace, a new Operation Director – David Wright – has joined the team to ensure a smooth transition into season 24 and beyond.

Responsible for all operational activities from supply chain and manufacturing to delivery to the client base, David will also closely monitor the business’s quality, cost and delivery performance. In doing so, he will work alongside the wider team to ensure that the company achieves and exceeds client service and product expectations.

Bringing to the role extensive operational experience, David’s appointment comes at a time when the AMES Companies has heavily invested in its Pollington site in East Yorkshire. Now home to AMES Tools and Apta, as well as the Kelkay and Woodshaw brands, the site needs to perform better than ever.

Elsewhere, under David’s guidance, new synergies will be created that offer multiple benefits for AMES’ retail customers, including new production capabilities, increased stock profile and access to point-of-sale support. Delivery to store, including cross-brand ordering, will also influence David’s new role as he looks to further cement the company’s promise to always offer the best products, service, quality and price, thereby making it the ‘partner of choice’ for garden retailers across the country.

David said of his appointment: “Until I saw the role at AMES, I wasn’t looking to change jobs, but this was an opportunity I didn’t want to miss. From the Leadership Team to its strategic approach to how it does business, the AMES Companies stands out for all the right reasons. Throughout the recruitment process I was able to have complete visibility of what AMES stand for as a business and how important the role of “people” is to it. It also felt like an organisation where I could make a difference, add value and be an integral part of its growth and development.

“For me, this role represents an opportunity for both me and the business. In my short time here, I have been amazed by the openness and proactivity on offer. I believe we have already and will continue to build a strong team capable of driving change and disrupting the market with a strong product offering and a focus on performance that places the client truly front and centre in everything we do.”
