Rosebourne construction gathers pace as next key appointment is made

Construction on Rosebourne, the purpose-built garden centre that will replace the former Weyhill Nursery near Thruxton, has gathered apace since work started in November last year. The build coincides with the announcement of Rosebourne’s next key senior appointment and the launch of a recruitment drive to fill the 80 new job openings.

With plans to open to the public in time for this August Bank Holiday, construction of Rosebourne has forged ahead. The site has already been cleared, the foundations laid and the main structure of the garden centre erected in late January.

Once completed, Rosebourne will set a new benchmark in garden centres, offering customers a fresh approach with a focus on locally sourced produce, excellent dining, traditional plants and unique gifts.

The company is keen to establish Rosebourne as the central hub for the local community, with the premium quality product offering being underpinned by fantastic customer service.

Adam Dorber is Rosebourne’s latest key appointment, coming on board as the Horticultural Buyer Manager. Dorber’s appointment follows that of Rosebourne’s Store Manager and Leisure Buyer, Valerie Kempster.

Bringing with him a wealth of senior buying experience, Dorber has worked as a buyer for garden centres and nurseries for over 25 years. Most recently, he was responsible for the sales expansion of the plant and gardening product ranges at The Burford Garden Company, one of the UK’s premier independent garden retailers. Past roles also include, Group Plant Buyer for the Garden & Leisure Group and, Senior Buyer and Department Manager at Whitehall Garden Centres.

Neville Prest, Managing Director at Rosebourne, said: “It’s an exciting time at Rosebourne as we continue to realise our vision to create an exciting, thriving and quality leisure and shopping destination. Rosebourne will showcase the very best of Hampshire’s food, drink and plant producers in a relaxed setting, and it is quickly taking shape.

“We are delighted to welcome Adam Dorber to Rosebourne and to have his expertise and knowledge to shape our product offering. Our team will be crucial to our focus on providing visitors with a fantastic experience and, with over 80 job openings, we look forward to hearing from people who share our passion for customer service.”

Rosebourne is currently recruiting for a range of roles, from Foodhall Manager / Buyer, Gift Manager and horticultural staff through to Restaurant Manager, waiting staff, Chefs, kitchen staff and administrative roles. Applicants can submit their CV and outline which role is of interest to: team@rosebourne.co.uk
