Van Hage Peterborough to have supermarket neighbour

Planning permission was granted this week for a 7,000 sq m A1 Supermarket development on the Peterborough Garden Park site, where Van Hage Garden Centre is the lead tenant.

Garden Park Investments, who own the site, have not yet stated which retailer will be taking on the store but the proposal said: "This revised scheme before committee has been devised to facilitate the specific requirements of a foodstore operator with whom the developer are in advanced negotiation."

Local speculation is that the most likely operator will be Asda.  Waitrose have recently announced plans to build a new store in Peterborough close to the Queensgate Shopping Centre and the railway station.
