Konstsmide UK has written to its customers, informing them that the business has closed down due to the economic climate and rising operating costs.

GTN Xtra has seen a letter that Oscar Johansson, Managing Director of Konstsmide UK, sent to the company’s customers.

In it he said: “Due to the recent economic climate and rising operating costs, we have had to make the difficult decision to close Konstsmide UK. We have worked tirelessly to try and avoid this situation but sadly we have been unable to change this decision.

“Serving independent retailers – gift shops, garden centres, and so many wonderful businesses across the UK and Ireland – has meant a great deal to us. Your loyalty and partnership over the years have been deeply valued.

“We do still have stock available in our UK warehouse, and we will remain here until this stock has been sold. You are very welcome to continue placing orders during this period, and we truly appreciate your support.

“This decision affects only our UK office and does not impact any other Konstsmide branches in Europe, which will continue to operate as normal.”
