Planters buy Pacific

Fifteen months after buying Brookfields in Nottingham, Planters have now added a further centre to the business buying Pacific Nurseries in the West Midlands.

Peter and Tom Beharrell posted on the Pacific Nurseries website: "The time has now come for us to look forward to our retirement and we are thrilled that Gerald and Christine Ingram from Planters Garden Centres have agreed to buy both of the businesses.  They were very much our chosen partner to take us over, they have been our biggest wholesale customer for many years.

"Gerald, Christine and Bethany (their daughter) know many of our staff through attending joint meetings of our Trade Associations and we are confident that the transition will be seemless from the Beharrell family to the Ingrams.

"We have made so many friends while we have been at Pacific whether they be suppliers, customers or competitors.  It is a very friendly industry with which to have been involved. It just leaves Tom and myself to say “thank you” to you all for your custom and friendship and for us to wish all of the staff and the Ingram family every best wish and we leave in confidence that the business is in safe hands."

Gerald Ingram told GTN Xtra they were delighted to be acquiring both the garden centre and the nursery. "We will be runing the nursery as it has been and the team will remain the same in the garden centre. Pacific is in a great location and has been built on firm foundations for future growth"

"We are pleased that the business is moving from one family to another" added Gerald.  "Our acquisition of Brookfields 15 months ago is proving very succesful with over £1m being added to the turnover already and the Brookfileds planteria team winning an internal competion recently."
