Santa arrives at Merryhatton Garden Centre in a microlight
Santa arrived at Merryhatton Garden Centre, North Berwick, in spectacular style last weekend...by microlight!
Piloted by East of Scotland Microlights, Santa did a stunning flypast over the East Lothian garden centre at 11am, before meeting up with Mrs Claus at the Microlight Centre nearby.
Waiting for them both was Dennis the Classic 1964 Fire Engine which took the Christmas duo over to Merryhatton to meet local children.
They were at the garden centre for an hour to make the final arrangements for the opening of Santa’s magical grotto today (Saturday). They also launched a Christmas colouring competition, helped children decorate Christmas cookies, and made a nomination for Merryhatton’s Christmas Star Award 2013. Live music was provided by North Berwick High School Ukulele Orchestra.
Merryhatton owner Helen MacDonald said: “This is the first year we have had a Santa’s grotto at Merryhatton so we were keen to make sure Santa made a memorable entrance.
"We teamed up with two other small local businesses, East of Scotland Microlights and Classic Engine Events, to put on what we’re sure will be a truly fitting arrival for Mr and Mrs Claus to our part of East Lothian!
“Merryhatton prides itself on being a family garden centre and this is one of a range of activities we’re arranging to ensure the whole family will enjoy visiting Merryhatton this Christmas.”
