YPHA announce three new Mental Health First Aiders through support from Perennial

The YPHA has announced an additional tier to its member wellbeing provisions, with the introduction of three new Mental Health First Aiders.

This initiative, supported by YPHA’s Charity partner, Perennial, reinforces the association’s ongoing commitment to member wellbeing.

The newly appointed Mental Health First Aiders, Adam Stewart, George Holmes, and Jess Dabell, bring diverse backgrounds and viewpoints to the role.

They have each completed Mental Health First Aid training courses which were hosted and funded by Perennial, with their availability via personal YPHA email addresses providing a confidential and accessible channel for members seeking support.

The newly appointed YPHA Mental Health First Aiders are:

  • Adam Stewart (he/him) – Director of Utopia Landscapes (AdamMHFA@ypha.org.uk)
  • George Holmes (they/them) – Horticultural Trainee at The MacRobert Trust (GeorgeMHFA@ypha.org.uk)
  • Jess Dabell (she/her) – Brand Manager at Meadow View Stone (JessMHFA@ypha.org.uk)

Perennial is the UK’s only charity dedicated to helping everyone who works with plants, trees, flowers or grass, and their families. They offer free advice, information and support to all those in horticulture whether working or retired, at any stage of life.

Emily McCurrie, Perennial’s Programme Manager - Health Prevention said, “It’s a real pleasure to have Adam, George and Jess join our network of Mental Health First Aiders. They’re contributing to a great area of need within the industry. At Perennial, we know many workers are living with poor mental health and need support. The charity can’t do this alone and it’s encouraging to see industry workers taking ownership of the mental health agenda and being proactive in taking it forward. It means people in the industry do not need to struggle alone and have someone to talk to who understands the challenges of working in the industry.”
