Dobbies announces Helping Your Community Grow winner

Dobbies has announced its national Helping Your Community Grow project winner, seeing Cramlington Village Primary School in Gosforth receive funding, support and advice to brighten up their green space in a sustainable way.

This spring, nominated projects received a grand total of 35,000 public votes, and worthy local projects across the UK will be supported with advice, products and support from the Dobbies’ team.

Cramlington Village Primary School is going to create a memorial garden with Dobbies' support, in memory of their student Lyla who sadly passed away earlier this year, providing the children, team members and the family with a calming space to reflect and remember her. This garden will shine a light on the bubbly young girl that was sadly taken from the community.

Debbie Wylie, Principal at Cramlington Village Primary School is delighted with the win: “We're so pleased to have won Dobbies' Helping You Community Grow initiative and are looking forward to remembering Lyla in a fitting memorial garden. We're very grateful for everyone's support in getting the project to this point, and we're looking forward to using some of Lyla's favourite flowers to attract her favourite birds to this very special place.”

Dobbies’ CEO, Graeme Jenkins, said: “Helping Your Community Grow is an opportunity to support local projects that are making a real difference to their local area. We’re honoured to be announcing our national winning project, Cramlington Village Primary School, and wish them all the best with the garden.”

There will be further opportunities available for community groups across the UK looking to brighten up their local areas. Community groups are invited to contact their local store for details.
