To recognise Ukraine’s National Independence Day, Levington Village in Suffolk has created a beautiful display of sunflowers across a number of homes throughout the village.
The initiative, organised by local residents, aims to show support to Ukrainian Nationals, including the Ukrainian individuals currently residing in the village.
Margaret Angus, the local resident who initiated the project, says “My husband Ian and I were inspired to show our support to Levington’s current Ukrainian residents after seeing the brilliant display of sunflowers at the Levington research grounds. The village will be filled with 120 sunflowers on Wednesday, with every house gifted a stem for their gate, to show support and encouragement to our Ukrainian residents from our local community on the Ukrainian Independence Day.”
The sunflowers, which are the national flower of Ukraine, have been kindly donated by Miracle-Gro who have a research centre based in Levington.
The sunflowers will be displayed from Wednesday 24th August in Levington.
