To mark the centenary year since the end of the First World War, Wyevale Garden Centres is partnering with The Royal British Legion, by joining their ‘Thank you’ campaign.
The campaign, which acknowledges and gives thanks to all those who served, sacrificed their lives and helped to shape our world during WWI, will launch on the 22nd August 2018 and run for 12 weeks until Armistice Day, 11th November 2018.
As part of its involvement, Wyevale Garden Centres will promote a British-grown range of plants, with a donation to be made to The Royal British Legion from each plant sold. In addition, the garden centre retailer will be selling a range of poppy-themed products in centres, including poppy feeders, bird houses and baths and decorative Apta Glazed Poppy Pots, as well as poppy pins at till points.
The campaign will extend to Wyevale Garden Centres’ restaurants and cafes, with three Royal British Legion Afternoon Tea events to be hosted on the 5th September, 3rd October and 7th November. Serving and ex-serving military personnel can also enjoy half-price fish and chips every Friday from 24th August – 9th November.
Richard Bruce, Director of Marketing at Wyevale Garden Centres, commented: “The Royal British Legion is a charity close to all of our hearts here at Wyevale Garden Centres and for our customers too. We’re proud to be supporting The Royal British Legion through this partnership and hope to raise over £100,000 from sales and donations at our garden centres, for those who have served and are currently serving in the British Armed Forces.”
Roger Mclaughlan, CEO of Wyevale Garden Centres, added: “I was delighted when the partnership with The Royal British Legion was confirmed; both my parents were active in The Royal British Legion and my Dad had served for over a decade in The Royal Air Force, so I’m thrilled we’re supporting such a worthy cause, which means so much to so many people.”
