British Garden Centres arrive in Harrogate with their 58th garden centre, due to open in April, and are looking to fill 40 new jobs.
Last week, British Garden Centres (BGC) said they are delighted to announce the location of their 58th garden centre.
The garden centre, most recently known as Grass Roots and before that Cascades Garden Centre is just outside Harrogate on the Ripon Road. The centre has been closed for over a year but, in true BGC style, the team are working at full speed to have the centre reopened in early April.
Founder, Charles Stubbs said “I’m delighted we can bring the unique BGC offer to the Harrogate area and look forward to meeting our new customers. I’m excited by the prospect of re-opening the garden centre and we are going to pull out all the stops and open in April with our full gardening range.”
“The first thing we need to do is recruit a team, we’ll be welcoming 40 people to the family in the next few weeks,” commented Charles. “Due to lockdown restrictions we won’t reopen the restaurant until the summer but I expect that will lead to a further recruitment of 15+ colleagues.”
Tasked with getting the new centre up and running is Charles daughter, Amy Stubbs. Until recently Amy has been running one of BGCs flagship centres, Brigg Garden Centre in North Lincolnshire.

British Garden Centres was started over 30 years ago by brothers, Charles & Robert Stubbs, in Woodthorpe, Lincolnshire. Over the years BGC has grown from its heartland to the business it is now with 58 garden centres spread from Carmarthen to Ramsgate, Wimborne to East Durham.
