Gardeners get ready for the sowing season

It’s that time of year again when gardeners start preparing for the sowing season, and the return of the Veg-2-Gro chart is a clear indication that customers have been buying their vegetable seeds, onion sets and seed potatoes.

Onion sets are selling well for Taylor’s Bulbs with their Electric and Stuttgarter varieties at Nos 2 and 3 in the chart respectively.

Suttons are prominent this week with 19 entries, topped by Beetroot Boltardy (pictured) at No 4. The company have two other products in the Top 10 – at No 6 with Carrot Early Nantes 5 and at No 10 with Broad Bean Aquadulce Claudia.

Thompson & Morgan are another seed specialist figuring strongly with 20 entries. Four of those products are in the Top 10 – Broad Bean Aquadulce Claudia at No 5, Tomato Sweet Baby at No 7, Alan Titchmarsh Runner Bean is a new entry at No 8, and Tomato Gardeners Delight at No 9.

The top spot in the chart has been claimed by a new product – Unwins Gro-Sure Chilli Kit. The Kitchen Garden Herb Kit has also done well for Unwins, re-entering the chart at No 29.
